2014 Holiday Countdown Song: Hanukkah Blessings by Barenaked Ladies
(Author's note: Yes, it was Christmas Song Countdown/Christmas Countdown Song list until tonight. I probably should have rectified that before tonight. Oh, well. The label will stand, but the title of the pieces will change.)

So we break format once again, as tonight is the
inception of Hanukkah.
It would have been too easy to simply pick Adam Sandler’s
Hanukkah song (or one of its many sequels) as the choice, but I decided to
actually be a bit reverential for a change today.
So it’s back to Barenaked Ladies and the Hanukkah
Blessings songs, which actually incorporates two of the prayers said during the
nightly lighting of the menorah.
Candles are added from right to left but are lit from left to right. The third blessing
listed below (the "Shehecheyanu"is only recited on the first night that one lights candles.
And I do apologize if my spelling or translations are
incorrect. I blame the internet. J
