Mending a Schism
So a couple of things have changed around here today.
I stopped the Fiction Friday about a month and a half ago. Not because I got tired of the project, but because I switched over and started working on one of the other book projects that demanded my attention. The Fiction Friday will resume over the summer, although the exact date is a mystery.
If you look over at the sidebar, however, there has been a huge development. It related to the schism I mention in the headline.
In the past, I was siloing myself. I would write about sports and sports related topics at Pigskin Punditry (2008-2014) and the Final Timeout (2015-). I would write about other things here, mainly writing, writers block and other aspects of life.
After years of doing this, I was suddenly struck by how absurd it seems. I think the initial impetus for it was me trying to make a career of being a sports writer as sort of a quarter-life crisis.
It was futile. And it was definitely a reaction to some things that were going on with me at work and the elimination of my position at the last college I worked at before 2015.
Now that I am more settled and back in the field I love, I have come to a sense of peace about things. So I made the decision to merge the sports blog with this one. So I brought my entire archive over here. I may still export back to the other space from time to time, but this is where I have centralized all of my musings...on sports and other stuff.
